Laccio table set by Marcel Breuer for Gavina, c. 1960, Italy, early (pre-Knoll) production. The Gavina company was founded in 1949 by David Gavina, who is sometimes considered the godfather of Italian design. From the beginning, the company produced experimental designs. In 1968 Knoll bought the Gavina Group of Bologna. This brought all of Breuer's design into the Knoll catalog.
